Fall 2020 COVID-19 Q&A

posted in: News | 0

We are excited to welcome you back to ballet this fall! We can all work together to keep our studio open, and keep everyone healthy this season!

Community health is our first priority. We appreciate your patience with these new procedures and any modifications that we need to make in the coming months. We are carefully monitoring guidance from the Governor, Department of Health, and dance industry leadership.

There are so many new procedures! How do I find all this info?

We have adopted a new information sharing method this year – the BAND app. This app has a feed for important posts, newsletters, calendar for classes and events, chat, and messaging functionality. All of this info will now be in one place so you just have to open the app! You can even receive notifications when new information is posted. Check it out and let us know what you think! http://band.us

You will receive an invitation to join our BAND when you register for classes. This invite may be sent via text or email – let us know which works best for you!

Are you offering in-person or virtual classes this year?

Our Fall 2020 semester will be a hybrid of in-person and virtual classes. Dancers may choose in-person or virtual options at registration. In-person classes will be limited to a maximum of 5 students in Phase 2. If enrollment exceeds this number for any class, that class will be split in half and dancers will attend in-person every other week (alternating with virtual). We may also add extra classes if there is enough interest. In-person and virtual classes are delivered simultaneously (live-streamed).

Times shown on the schedule are check-in times for in-person instruction. Class time officially starts 10 minutes after check-in to provide time for in-person students to check in and safely get to their distanced spots. Virtual students should expect to be in the virtual waiting room until the teacher is ready to start class.

What will in-person classes look like?

Dance health experts recommend a minimum distance of 10 feet between dancers during class, and restrict any movement across the floor until Phase 3. This is an industry standard for dancer safety and is more conservative than the state requirements. We will be very strict on this for the safety of our dancers.
Due to the mandated class size limits, no drop-ins will be allowed. All students are required to register for the entire session to reserve their spot in class. Session dates are posted on our class schedule, in our BAND app, and on our website. Dancers who miss class due to illness or vacation must make up their class virtually.

Our schedule has been adjusted to allow for sanitizing the studio in between classes. All surfaces will be sanitized after each class. We will not use shared props or mats during classes this semester. Registered students will receive detailed information on check-in and class procedures prior to the start of classes.

How do I know which classes to sign up for this year?

Our curriculum is carefully constructed to ensure that dancers are training safely and appropriately for their age and level. Class levels and age groups have been adjusted this fall to account for missed class time since March. Class placement is at the discretion of the Artistic Director. If you have questions, just ask!

Come to one of our virtual Back To Ballet events or contact Miss Jeanne to set up a time to go over your options. We are looking forward to working with your family’s schedule to find the best classes for your dancer.

We understand the importance of making an in-person connection with the teacher, especially for new dancers. If you would like to meet your teacher in person before the start of classes, contact Miss Jeanne to set up a distanced in-person meeting. Masks will be required!

And last but not least…

Tuition is non-refundable. In the event of a mandated closure, all classes will continue virtually on the same schedule through the end of the semester. We believe in consistency and will go above and beyond to keep on dancing!

After registration, you will receive a detailed video and directions for how to enter and exit our studio. This information will be sent out and posted in our BAND approximately two weeks before classes start. Thank you for your cooperation and for your business. We are grateful to serve our community and take pride in exceeding your expectations. We can all work together to reopen safely!
